The hotel
A white stucco Regency terrace on the seafront, wrought-iron balconies looking out toward the pier. Rooms at the front get sea views and the sound of gulls; rooms at the back are quieter.
The gaming floor
Small and old-school rather than flashy — a handful of card tables and a roulette wheel tucked behind the original ballroom, barely changed since it was added in the 1960s. Smart dress is expected after the sun goes down.
Getting there by train
Brighton's mainline station connects directly to London Victoria and St Pancras in under an hour; from the station it's about a 15-minute walk down to the seafront, or a short bus ride.
Good to know
Friday and Saturday evenings are the busiest by a wide margin; midweek, the gaming room can be genuinely quiet. 18+ photo ID required at the door.
